Description on the colophon: “This book comprises the text of Howl as it was published in 1956 with recent minute revisions by the author and the addition of a related poetic fragment The Names, written in 1957, published in the Paris Review for Spring 1966 and here first collected with the poem. The title-page bears the signature of the poet. The drawing for the cover is by Robert LaVigne. This edition, limited to 275 copies, was printed on handmade paper from Goudy Modern type in the summer of 1971 by Robert Grabhorn & Andrew Hoyem of San Francisco.
